Start-up and operation
The navigation feature can be activated by pressing the "NAV" button on the radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29) and the basic menu appears on the display (ABS navigation CD-ROM must be inserted into navigation processor (A2/30)) .
Turning the right knob changes the menu points, activation can be accomplished by momentarily pressing the right knob. Characters entered (e.g. entering destination) can be confirmed by pressing for a longer period (> 2 s). Press the "RET" button to return to the previous menu.
Entering destination
Press "NAV" button. The basic navigation menu appears on the display. Select and confirm with right knob, e.g. "ENTER ADDRESS". Enter the first letters of the city name and confirm by pressing and holding down the right knob. A list of towns starting with the characters entered appears. Then select the street in the same manner.
Voice prompt
When the left knob is pressed the last voice prompt is repeated. Turning during voice output changes the volume (the setting for the radio, cassette or CD volume remains unchanged).
Software info
Switch on radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29) . Activate radio menu (press FM/AM button), switch A2/29 back off. Press "NAV" button and "Audio/sound" button and simultaneously switch on radio and navigation operating unit (A2/29) . The current software version is displayed.
Changing CD-ROM
- Switch on ABS system.
- Push lock on navigation processor (A2/30) to left-CD-ROM is ejected automatically.
- Carefully insert new CD-ROM into CD-ROM slot with labeling up until it is pulled in automatically by the CD-ROM drive.
- Move catch all the way to the right.
"SETTINGS" menu
The basic settings for the APS system can be selected with this menu point:
- LANGUAGE
Mark desired language and confirm. Loading a language requires approx.20 s .
- LOCATION
Entry of a location is only possible in combination with a street intersection.
- TIME
Display and setting system time.
- DISPLAY CONTRAST
Setting contrast on display
- TRAFFIC INFO source (only with code 815)
Selection of source for traffic information:
- TMC (traffic message channel) via FM/RDS radio station (no fees)
- TCS (traffic center service) via cellular telephone (subject to fees)
- CALIBRATION
After changing tires calibration of the tires is required.
For this purpose enter the tire size, e.g.: 225/060/016 and the coding whether the tires are new (tread depth 5-10 mm) or used (tread depth 3-5 mm). Calibration can also be performed with the hand-held tester (HHT).
A calibration drive is not necessary

Acceptance of subscription to Telematic services
For operation of the "dynamic guidance" feature it is necessary for debitel to have accepted the subscription for the Telematic service. Acceptance is accomplished after a corresponding Telematic application has been received by debitel. The monthly fees for the Telematic service start beginning with the time the subscription is accepted.
In cases of doubt check with debitel whether the subscription has been approved.
Configuration of SIM card
It is necessary to configure the SIM card for reception of traffic information via cellular telephone network. For this purpose it is necessary to store two separate telephone numbers on the SIM card:
For D1 network (status 10.98):
Select number memory on cellular telephone,
Name: GSMTMCDA, telephone number (305)
Name: GSMTMCSCA, telephone number (+ 49 171 076 0100)
For D2 network (status 10.98):
Select number memory on cellular telephone,
Name: GSMTMCDA, telephone number (2 002)

Always ensure that "+
" symbol for automatic national code is entered.
The numbers are defined by the Telematic service providers (debitel).
