DANGER Risk of injury.  Injury may result when the tension in the spring in the automatic belt retractor is released. Never disassemble automatic belt retractors. AS91.00-Z-0002-01A 
    Models 129, 202 as of 1.7.93, 163, 168, 170, 208, 210, 314, 316, 318, 463, 638, 901, 902, 903, 904, 950, 952, 953, 954 ↓  
DANGER Risk of injury.  Injuries may result when performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag unit with expulsion area on top, do not subject to temperatures above 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A 
    Models 129, 202 up to 30.06.93, 124, 140↓  
DANGER Risk of injury.  Injuries may result when performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag unit with expulsion area on top, do not subject to temperatures above 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect power supply and unplug the SRS test connector (X11/13). 1 Move seat as far forward as possible with backrest upright    
2.1 Disconnect ground cable of battery Disconnect SRS test connector (X11/13) Model 202 up to 30.6.93 AR54.10-P-0003A
2.2 Withdraw ignition key Model 202 as of 1.7.93 and model 210  
3 Remove front and rear door sill moldings    
4 Remove paneling on B-pillar Model 202 AR68.30-P-4700E
    Model 210 AR68.30-P-4700F
5 Remove paneling on belt end fitting (1) and unscrew bolt TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.40-P-1001-01A

6 Unscrew screw on upper belt guide fitting (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.40-P-1002-01A

7 Disconnect plug to emergency tensioning retractor initiator (R12/1, R12/2)    
8 Unscrew screw from automatic belt reel (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA91.40-P-1004-01A

9 Remove automatic belt reel (3) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Pay attention to different version (left/ right) of seat belt emergency tensioning retractor and correct seating in the catch.
Noises from the automatic belt reel when rolling up belt are normal. The only available response to negative customer feedback regarding unacceptable noise levels is to replace the seat belt assembly with emergency tensioning retractor in its entirety.
NOTES Never use oil or grease to eliminate noises. The warranty claim for automatic belt reels is voided if they are opened!
If the seat belt with emergency tensioning retractor is replaced dispose of defective unit properly. ↓

10 Install in the reverse order

11.2 Carry out diagnosis Model 202 as of 01.07.93 and model 210
