Remove/install lamp unit - AR82.10-P-4730EDD

MODEL 170 up to 31.7.99 with CODE (612) Xenon headlamp unit

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by high voltage levels present at xenon headlamps.
Risk of explosion/fire hazard  through highly flammable material in the area of damaged xenon bulbs.
Risk of injury  through UV light, hot components on xenon headlamps and glass splinters when xenon bulbs burst.
Risk of poisoning  through inhalation of mercury vapor and swallowing of or skin contact with toxic salts and mercury compounds.
Do not come into contact with parts that are under high voltage. Persons with active electronic implants  (e.g. heart pacemakers) must never work on xenon headlamps. Switch off complete lighting system. Wear insulating safety shoes, safety glasses and protective gloves. Remove highly inflammable materials from the hazard area. Ensure that the workplace is sufficiently ventilated. AS82.10-Z-0001-01A 
1 Switch off ignition    
2 Remove left turn signal lamp (E6/1) or right turn signal lamp (E6/2) IMPORTANT Insert screwdriver into bore (enlarged detail) at the end of the fender support to release the lock and push the turn signal lamp out to the front.  
3 Detach electrical connection (3) from left turn signal lamp (E6/1) or right turn signal lamp (E6/2)    
4 Remove screws (5) and (7)    
5 Detach electrical connection (2) (lamp unit) and electrical connection (4) (headlamp range adjustment motor) on left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2)    
6 Carefully remove left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) to front IMPORTANTInstallation:  Align xenon lamp unit such that the distances between the fender and closed engine hood are equal.  
7 Install in the reverse order Steps 7 up to 1.  
8 Set zero position on left front lamp unit (E1) or right front lamp unit (E2) IMPORTANT See Star Diagnosis.  
INSPECT Checking     
9 Check and correct headlamp adjustment
