	Remove/install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between the columns of the and position the four support plates below the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
	While working on the rear axle care must be taken to ensure that the surface of all aluminum components do not get any scratches, cracks and notches. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected
1	Remove twelve-point collar nut (12) from rear axle shaft (37)		AR35.30-P-0115-01A

2	Remove rear wheel
	Remove wheels		AP40.10-P-4050Z
3.1	Remove right muffler	When removing the right rear axle shaft (37), see: ↓ Remove complete exhaust system:

3.2	Remove exhaust system as of flange connection	Engine 275 in model 215, 220	AR49.10-P-7280M
4	Detach rear axle shaft (37) from connecting flange on rear axle center assembly	To prevent wheel bearing damage, the vehicle must not be moved on its wheels any more once the rear axle shaft (37) is removed. Move rear axle (37) shaft to approximately horizontal position, push together and remove diagonally downwards from connecting flange. Installation:  Replace self-locking bolts and shims. Lightly oil bolts at thread and bolt head contact surface.

5	Pull rear axle shaft (37) out of the rear axle shaft flange and remove	Do not damage rubber sleeves or rotor for rpm sensor. If rear axle shaft is jammed: ↓

6	Check constant velocity joints, boots and end cover for leaks and damage	If the outer constant velocity joint is defective, the rear axle shaft (37) must be replaced complete. If the inner constant velocity joint is defective, or the rubber boots and end covers are damaged or leaking, replace the appropriate parts: ↓ Remove/install inner constant velocity joint or rubber boots on rear axle shaft:

7	Install in the reverse order
