	Removing, installing
1	Open engine hood and raise to upright position		AR88.40-P-1000E
	Risk of explosion  from electrolytic gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  with caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
2	Disconnect ground cable from battery		AR54.10-P-0003A

3	Remove fuse box cover (1)	Check gasket for damage, as moisture ingress can cause malfunctions in the electrical system.
4	Unscrew bolts (2)
5	Remove relay box cover (3)	Check gasket for damage, as moisture ingress can cause malfunctions in the electrical system.
6.1	Remove lamp monitoring unit (N7)	To do this, operate the snap-in bracket (arrow).

6.2	Remove driver-side signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1)	As of 01.06.97: The lamp monitoring unit is integrated into the driver-side signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1). See: ↓.

7	Install in the reverse order
