Notes on function check, adaptive damping system (ADS II) - AD32.32-P-2000-01A
Initial check
Read out fault memory with Hand-Held Tester (HHT) .
Carry out actual/specified value comparison and actuations with HHT .
- Always read out the ADS fault memory before carrying out repair work .
- The chapter "fault memory" in the Diagnosis Manual is deleted .
The HHT indicates the defective components in the display or refers directly to the test step in the Diagnosis Manual.
- Connect HHT to data link connector (DTC readout) (X11/4) in accordance with connecting diagram.
- Ignition ON .
- Read out fault memory.
- Carry out specified/actual value comparison.
- Carry out actuations.
- Work through fault codes displayed.
- Erase fault memory after completing the repair.
For customers with garage entrances with extreme approach angles or frequent rough roads for example, the ADS control module can be reprogrammed at the express wish of the customer (refer to HHT "Programming" menu). The higher vehicle level stage 1 (+35 mm) is always re-adjusted after the speed drops below 58 km/h when the switch is pressed .
In this case the control module is to be identified with a red dot . The higher vehicle level stage 2 is not affected by this programming. It is erased each time a speed of 62 km/h is exceeded.
