Stub Axles: Installation

  1. Coat inner lip of NEW seal with gear oil. On all differentials, install oil seal into differential using a press. Install stub axle shafts into differential. Install NEW circlip onto stub axle shaft.
  2. Ensure stub axle shaft does not have any end play and new circlip barely turns. If notable end play exists, it is necessary to use thicker circlips or spacer rings, or both depending on differential application. See STUB AXLES under OVERHAUL.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Use sealer on differential cover plate. Add gear oil to differential. See LUBRICATION. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
