Drive Shaft: Removal

  1. Remove exhaust system and shielding from vehicle as necessary. On E300, E320, E420, S320, S350, S420 and S500, loosen drive shaft clamping nut using 46-mm Open-End Wrench (126 589 00 01 00). See Figure .
  2. On all models, unbolt drive shaft intermediate bearing bracket from frame floor. Remove drive shaft coupling from differential flange, and wire aside. See Figure .
