Differential Assembly: Removal
- Drain differential oil. Remove ABS sensor from differential, and shield sensor from damage. Remove exhaust system components and floor shield as necessary. Remove drive shaft. See DRIVE SHAFT.
- Remove axle shafts from differential and wire aside. On models with automatic locking differential (ASD), release hydraulic pressure. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE RELEASE. Disconnect hydraulic line from differential. On all vehicles, support differential using suitable jack.
- On some differentials, it may be necessary to slightly lower differential to access speed sensor(s) for removal. Remove differential mounting bolts. Remove differential from vehicle.
