Differential Assembly: Removal
- Drain differential oil. Remove ABS sensor from differential, and shield sensor from damage. Remove exhaust system components and floor shield as necessary. Remove drive shaft. See DRIVE SHAFT .
- Remove axle shafts from differential and wire aside. On models with automatic locking differential (ASD), release hydraulic pressure. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect hydraulic line from differential. On all vehicles, support differential using suitable jack.
- On some differentials, it may be necessary to slightly lower differential to access speed sensor(s) for removal. Remove differential mounting bolts. Remove differential from vehicle.
