Removal, installation and adjustment of the control cable - ra77001400140x(0140)

Model 140 

Preliminary work:

Headliner on tilting/sliding roof removed (77-050)

Panelling in trunk, left, removed

Screws (Fig 1) on extending support unscrew.
Tilting/sliding roof switch press to " roof up  ", allow control cable to run out of gear unit and pull out toward front.
NOTE: If the control cable cannot be moved with the electric drive, use the emergency actuation (Owner's Manual). If the control cable cannot be pulled out, disassemble the gear unit of the electric drive (77-180).
  If the control cable still cannot be removed after disassembling the gear unit, it is stuck in the tube, which must then also be removed (77-150).
IMPORTANT It should be possible to pull out the control cable with a maximum force of 70 N. Perform this test with a spring balance (Fig 1, commercially available tool).
Spiral coat with MB-Lubricant Paste, part no. 001 989 14 51.
Control cable push all the way into the tube, press tilting/ sliding roof switch to " roof down  " and allow control cable to run into gear unit until the holes in the guide plate and the extending support coincide.
IMPORTANT When installing the control cable ensure that the guide (Fig 1) slides into the slot in the tube.
Screws (Fig 1) screw in.

Adjustment

Tilting/sliding roof switch press to " roof up", until tilting/sliding roof panel is completely lifted.
Adjustment knob (Fig 2) move to adjustment position, pull out against stop and then press in approx. 3 mm.
Adjustment knob (Fig 2) turn until centering bolt (shop-made) can be inserted completely through the hole in the mounting plate into the control unit behind and the notch on the adjustment knob points in the direction of the hole.
Adjustment knob press in and remove centering bolt.
  IMPORTANT When the centering bolt is inserted or the adjustment knob pulled out do not actuate the tilting/sliding roof motor otherwise the control unit can be damaged or the adjustment lost.
Closing operation check, if required move adjustment knob back into adjustment position and perform fine adjustment by turning knob.
Turning knob to right =  sliding roof forward. 
Turning knob to left =  sliding roof back. 
NOTE: One rotation of the knob changes the position of the tilting/sliding roof by approx. 45 mm.
Adjustment knob press in and actuate tilting/sliding roof switch.
Panelling reinstall in trunk.
Headliner install (77-050).
