Pre-installation for retrofitting radio

The wiring for the speakers in the front left and right doors as well as the wiring for the radio connection (power supply for single module set) and for the automatic antenna is installed as a standard feature. The speaker wiring for the front and rear speakers, the adapter wiring harness for the speaker connection at the radio and the RF antenna cable are not included.

NOTE: The fixed code has been eliminated for the Japanese version.

Power is supplied from the ignition/starter switch terminal 15C. Power is present at terminal 15C when the key is in position 1, 2 or 3. If the key is turned back to position 0, the radio remains switched on. The power to terminal 15C is disconnected only when the key is removed thereby switching off the radio.

The radios Becker Mexico 2000 and Becker Grand Prix 2000 USA continue to operate for approx. 3 seconds. These radios and the MB radio can also be switched on and off with the key removed by pressing the ON/OFF button.

The radio switches off automatically after one hour. It can then be switched on again. Power is supplied via terminal 30. The Becker Mexico 2000 and the MB radios "Spezial & Exquisit" can be operated alternately with the sound system or standard speaker system.

USA vehicles are equipped with sound system with Becker Grand Prix USA radio or, as of model year 1994, MB radio "Exquisit" as a standard feature.

A code card is included in duplicate with each radio unit or radio control stage indicating the model, serial number and code number of the radio or radio control stage in question.

For two-component radios an ident. card containing the serial number is included for the amplifier and receiver stage.

Since the CODE CARD/IDENT. CARD can also be used as proof of ownership, it should be stored in a safe place outside of the vehicle. This makes illegal use impossible. Attach the two window stickers included to the inside of the vehicle windows.

The card box located in the cassette compartment on new vehicles contains the RADIO CODE CARD and window stickers.

Always ensure that the RADIO CODE CARD is kept in a safe place outside of the vehicle.
