The convenience control comprises the following functions:

closing the windows and the tilting/sliding roof with the key in the driver's and front passenger's door, and also at the trunk.
automatically opening and closing the windows to the end position by means of the power window switch (pressing beyond detent).
limiting excessive force when windows automatically raised.

Normalizing

A prerequisite for proper operation of automatic raising and recessing of the windows is that the windows are normalized. In other words:

all windows closed (block position).
operate each power window switch in "close" direction for 1-2 s (no automatic raising).
windows are normalized (basic setting).

Central closing of windows and tilting/ sliding roof

Turn key in door or trunk lock to "lock" position and hold in this position. After approx. 1 s, the windows and the tilting/sliding roof begin to close automatically.

The closing operation can be interrupted by turning the key back to the initial position. The closing operation can be continued by turning the key into the "lock" position.

Central closing only operates if the windows have been normalized. If no window has been normalized, the tilting/sliding roof also does not close.

If there is a risk of anything becoming jammed in the window or sliding roof, the windows and roof can be opened again within 10 s after starting the closing operation.

To do this, turn key in "unlock" direction and hold in this position.

Windows which have already closed are opened again after 2 s while a tilting/sliding roof which has already closed opens again after 4 s.

NOTE: If the key is turned fully to the right into position 4 in the trunk lock, the windows and tilting/sliding roof are not activated and remain open.

The convenience control module (N57) is located behind the side panel lining on the right in the trunk.

The convenience relay function is integrated in the control module. There is an additional relay if power seat adjustment is provided. The tilting/sliding roof is operated by the convenience relay in the control module (N57).

Opening the windows with power window switch

Press power window switch in "open" direction as far as the pressure point. Window opens for as long as the switch remains pressed.

Press power window switch in "open" direction beyond pressure point and release switch. Window opens automatically to end position.

The automatic opening operation is interrupted

after the block position is reached.
if the relevant power window switch is operated.
if the relevant power window motor is switched on without interruption for longer than 25 s.

Closing windows with power window switch

Press power window switch in "close" direction as far as pressure point. Window closes for as long as switch remains pressed.

Press power window switch in "close" direction beyond pressure point and release switch. Window closes automatically to end position.

The automatic closing operation is interrupted

after the block position is reached.
if the relevant power window switch is operated.
if the relevant power window motor is switched on without interruption for longer than 25 s.
if the excess force limiter is activated.

Excess force limiter

The excess force limiter acts as a protection against a person or object being jammed in the window as it closes automatically. It is effective to 200 mm - 4 mm below the block position (window closes).

If the power window switch is being held in the position beyond the pressure point at the moment that an object is jammed in the window, the drive is only stopped. If the switch then assumes the zero position, the window is opened 10 mm (± 5 mm).

If the switch is in the zero position at the moment an object is jammed in the window, the window is opened 50 mm (± 10 mm).
