Adjusting and checking parking lock - RA2703722B740X(27-740)

B. Model 129 as of start of production up to 09/89

ADJUSTING

Selector lever Move to position "N".
Key in steering lock Turn to position "1".
Ball nipple (43) Clip into locking lever (44).
Tube clamp (41) with cable (40) Insert into holder on bearing bracket (1) and attach retaining bolt (42).
Cable (40) Pull jacket in direction of arrow until there is a play of 0.5 mm between locking lever (44) and cam (48).
Retaining bolt (42) Tighten, 5 Nm.
NOTE: The cable is bolted to the steering lock and routed securely to the floor selector without kinks.

Testing after adjustment 

  1. Selector lever in position "N" Ignition key cannot be withdrawn.
  2. Selector lever in position "P" Ignition key can be withdrawn at position "0". The selector lever is locked in position "P".
  3. Ignition key in position "1".

The selector lever can be moved to any other position.

NOTE: When repeating the adjustment, it is essential to ensure that the cable slides easily in the tube clamp.
  1. Clip on protective cap.
