To adjust the engine hood (8) in the longitudinal (A) and transverse direction (B), first eliminate the pretension in the engine hood frame by screwing back both stop buffers (7).
- Adjustment in longitudinal direction
Inner fender (1) in front fender remove, install (88-130). Nuts (2) on engine hood hinge (3) slacken, adjust (numbers 1-7). - Adjustment in transverse direction
Upper part of engine hood lock (4) slacken, adjust
Measure gap using feeler gauge, part no. 129 589 03 21 00, 5 Nm (numbers 1 - 3) - Height adjustment
Inner fender in front fender remove, install (88-130). Stop buffer (5) slacken, adjust. Rear nuts (2) on engine hood hinge (3) slacken, adjust (numbers 1 - 11). - Adjustment of pretension
Radiator panelling (6) remove, install (88-400). Both lower stop buffers (7) on frame of closed engine hood (8) adjust with pretension (3 turns). Note installation information in section D (numbers 1 - 8) ! Engine hood locks lubricate, test safety hook (10) and lock (9) (numbers 7 - 10, in section D). Special tool
NOTE: For slight corrections of height or in the longitudinal direction, slacken bolts (arrows) in engine hood hinges and adjust engine hood.If more adjustment travel is required, adjust engine hood as described in "A.", "B.", "C." and "D.".
- Adjustment in longitudinal direction
- Remove inner fender in front fender (88-130).
- Move engine hood into the vertical position (90°) and unhook spring (1) on the engine hood hinges.
- Close engine hood.

- Adjust engine hood so that the front edge of the front fender aligns with the front edge of the engine hood.
- Tighten nuts on engine hood hinges.
- Install inner fender in front fender (88-130).
- Adjustment in transverse direction
- Slacken bolts (arrows) in upper parts of the engine hood lock (5).
- Adjust the fit of engine hood, gap: 5 mm.NOTE: Use feeler gauge, part no. 129 589 03 21 00.
- Tighten bolts in upper parts of the engine hood lock.
- Height adjustment
- Remove inner fender in front fender (88-130).
- Slacken lock nut on left and right-hand stop buffer (arrow).

- Close engine hood.
Shown with front fender removed
- Slacken both rear nuts (4) on engine hood hinge.NOTE: Do not slacken front nuts so that the adjustment in the longitudinal direction does not change.
Shown with front fender removed
- Adjust engine hood so that the upper edge of the rear engine hood aligns with the upper edge of the front fender, then tighten nuts on engine hood hinge.
- Move engine hood into vertical position (90°) and install spring on engine.
