Removal, installation and adjustment of the rear door - ra72001400060x(0060)

Model 140

Protective hose on B-pillar unclip.
Screws (1 and 2) on door hinge, top and bottom screw out (37 Nm).
Cover (arrow) on B-pillar remove.
Plug connector (3) in B-pillar disconnect by inserting special tool, part number 140 589 00 09 00, into square shaft and turning to left to unlock.
Bolt (4) on door retainer remove, use special tool, part number 140 589 02 61 00!
Rear door pry out of door hinges and remove toward rear while simultaneously pulling connector plug out of B-pillar.
Rear door set down on suitable surface, avoid damage to paint.
Reinstall in opposite order.

Installation and adjustment 

  1. Position door with upper part of hinges in lower part of hinges while simultaneously inserting connecting plug into B-pillar.

  2. Screw in mounting bolts (2 each) and tighten (37 Nm).

  3. Install bolt (4) on door retainer, attach retaining washer and install rubber seal (5).

  4. Close plug connector in B-pillar with special tool, part number 140 589 00 09 00, and insert cover.
  5. Clip protective hose onto B-pillar.
  6. Remove striker eye.

  7. Check joint gap around door and correct, if required.

    Gap dimension (GAPS ON THE HOOD, DOORS AND LID ).

  8. Check adjustment of driver's door (Removal, installation and adjustment of the driver's door  ).
  9. Adjust rear door on hinge side so that door panelling is flush with contour of driver's door or is max. 1 mm lower.
  10. Screw on striker eye, however do not tighten.

  11. Adjust striker eye by closing door completely and sliding striker eye so that contour of rear door panelling is flush with contour of rear fender or max. 1 mm higher.

  12. Open rear door and tighten striker eye (20 Nm).

  13. Check contour and fit on window frame at top in relation to roof panelling and rear pillar and adjust if required.
    NOTE: The outer sealing lip on the door frame should close flush with the edge of the roof panelling.
  14. Check door for easy motion.
