Removal and installation of seat belt and tensioner - ra91001400502x(0502)

Model 140

REMOVAL

Seat move forward.
Foot mat in passenger footwell fold toward rear.
Passenger foot support screw off and remove upward.
Ignition key turn to position "0".
Battery disconnect negative pole.
Test coupling for seat belt tensioner (X11/7) disconnect.
On vehicles with airbag disconnect test coupling/plug connection, for airbag (X11/13).
Cover bar on entry strip, front and rear remove.
Edge protector on B-pillar remove.
2 screws (1) at bottom of B-pillar covering (2) screw out and remove covering upward.
Clips on B-pillar covering (3) press in with screwdriver (arrows) and pull off covering.
Screw (4) on belt end fitting screw out.
Nut (5) on upper belt guide fitting screw out.
Screw (6) on automatic belt roller screw out.
Plug connector on belt tensioner squib (R12/1, R12/2) disconnect together with belt convenience feature.
Automatic belt retractor press down and remove from B-pillar.

Installation note 

When installing the belt tensioner pay attention to the different versions (left and right) and ensure that it is properly seated in the catch.

NOTE: Noises in the automatic belt retractor when the belt is are normal. If complaints are received excessive noise can only be eliminated by replacing the seat belt. Do not oil or grease to eliminate noises under any circumstances. 

Do not disassemble automatic belt retractor  , because the pretensioned spring can cause accidents. Automatic belt retractor, which have been opened, are no longer covered by the warranty.

COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TESTER

Multimeter e.g. Firma Sun, DMM-5 or Avometer 2003 Fluke 23

After installation of the belt tensioner check the system (belt tensioner or airbag with belt tensioner); for this purpose connect test cable and contact box according to connection schematic.

Test resistances according to table with multimeter.
