Regulations for replacement of seat belts A. By mechanical damage, B. Following an accident - ra91001400625x(0625)
Model 140
- In the Case of Mechanical Damage
If seat belts are incorrectly handled (wrongly cleaned, put in an unsuitable position or pinched), the seat belt webbing may be damaged. Therefore ensure that the maintenance service makes a visual check of the seat belt webbing. If split fibres or, for example, damage caused by a burning cigarette are detected on the seat belt webbing, the customer must be informed that it is necessary to replace the seat belt. In the case of wear resulting from friction without split fibres it is not necessary to replace the seat belt.
If a customer refuses to replace a damaged seat belt, a remark to this effect is to be entered in the repair order.
In the case of a complaint that "the seat belt does not roll up correctly", before removal check whether the seat belt can be fed back correctly by hand and whether it has been twisted through 180° behind the facing due to improper handling. Remove facing for this purpose.
- After Accidents
If one or both seat belt tensioners were not triggered in an accident, a check for mechanical damage is to be carried out in accordance with Point A.
If one or both seat belt tensioners were triggered in an accident, the complete seat belt tensioner is always to be replaced and the seat belt lock checked for mechanical damage and if necessary replaced.
