B. Function description

The bumper/rear window antenna serves to replace the rod type antenna, whereby the bumper antenna is for FM and the rear window antenna for MW, LW and SW (AM).

The FM bumper antenna amplifier is installed in the trunk on the left and is connected to vehicle ground through its mount.

The antenna integrated into the bumper passes the signal received through a cable to the FM bumper antenna amplifier (A2/15). An RF cable conducts the signal received to the AM rear window antenna amplifier (A2/16) attached to the left C-pillar. The FM bumper antenna amplifier (A2/15) receives power through the inner conductor in the RF cable.

NOTE: The suppression capacitor (arrow) is attached to the right C-pillar.

The signal received by the antenna integrated into the rear window is also conducted to the AM rear window antenna amplifier (A2/16) mounted on the left C-pillar. This is connected to vehicle ground analog to the FM bumper antenna amplifier. From the AM rear window antenna amplifier (A2/16) the signals from both antennas are conducted to the radio (A2) by the RF antenna cable.

The control cable from the automatic antenna to the radio (A2) is used for supplying power to the two antenna amplifiers.

A 220 F suppression capacitor is installed on the positive lead for the heated rear window to prevent interference by the heated rear window.
