- e) Electronic idle speed control (ELR)
The engine speed sensor detects the engine speed (144 pulses/revolution) and passes it on to the EDS control unit in the form of an alternating voltage.
The EDS control unit processes the engine speed signal and performs the set value/ actual value comparison. This enables idling speed to be maintained at a constant level by the actuator irrespective of engine load.
Set idling speed is raised in accordance with a fixed characteristic curve by the temperature sensor at coolant temperatures < 60°C.
