	Inspecting
1	Inspect engine for external oil loss	Eliminate any leaks
2	Engine oil and filter change	The oil consumption test run must only be carried out with engine oil; an engine oil change should therefore be carried out prior to the oil consumption test run. It is not necessary to change the engine if the last oil change was carried out less than one month before, or if the vehicle has not been driven more than 1000 km since the last engine oil change. 3	Park vehicle on a flat surface and mark the parked position
4	Bring engine oil temperature to 80 °C	Measure oil temperature with the remote thermometer (02)	Fig 2
5	Switch off engine
6	Measure oil level with dipstick (01) after 5 minutes; adjust oil level to maximum if necessary	Insert dipstick (01) with the scale pointing toward engine side and remove after 3 seconds, read off oil level and note Avoid overfilling oil; top up oil level to "max." (value "0" see table)	Fig 3
7	Carry out test run	Carry out test run over a measured distance of 250 km (in the case of measurement by workshop personnel) or 1000 km (in the case of measurement by customer). If measurement made by workshop personnel, take into account the operating conditions of the vehicle at the customer's.
8	Park vehicle at the marked position
9	Bring engine oil temperature to 80 °C	Measure oil temperature with remote thermometer (02). If the engine is switched off to allow the engine oil to cool down to 80 °C, the engine has to be run for about 10 seconds before the measurement (step 5) and the accelerator operated sharply during this time in order to create identical measurement conditions.
