Removal & Installation

Raise and support vehicle. Remove lower suspension arm cover. See Figure. On vehicles with Acceleration Slip Regulation (ASR), unclip brake lining wear indicator wiring harness from lower suspension arm. Press through plastic pin, pull guide rail rearward and remove upward.
NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) or self-leveling suspension, ensure procedure is followed for releasing pressure from shock absorbers. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE RELEASE.
On all models, remove coil spring. See COIL SPRING under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If vehicle is equipped with Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) or self-leveling suspension, see HYDRAULIC PRESSURE RELEASE for procedure to release pressure in system. Remove lower shock absorber nut. Remove stabilizer bar nut from lower suspension arm. See Figure. Remove lower suspension arm-to-axle carrier bolt, nut and washer.
Remove lower suspension arm-to-wheel carrier bolt and nut. Remove lower suspension arm. Inspect lower suspension arm. See LOWER SUSPENSION ARM under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION. To install, reverse removal procedure. Using a jack, lift wheel carrier until rear axle shaft is horizontal. Axle shaft must be horizontal before tightening lower suspension arm nuts.
