Calibrating electronic compass (APS) - AR82.61-P-7451A

MODEL 140 with CODE (351) Auto-pilot system (APS) 

MODEL 210.037 up to 31.3.96 with CODE (351) Auto-pilot system (APS)

  Removal, installation    
1 Switch on APS IMPORTANT Calibration of the compass must be accomplished under free sky  
2 Start engine IMPORTANT Vehicle must be standing still to start calibration  
3 Replace map data CD with APS test CD A selection menu appears on the display
NOTES Only lay CD cartridge (A) in place, it is pulled in automatically by the drive
 
4 Select menu point "SERVICE-SW" with cursor key (1) IMPORTANT Confirm by pressing volume knob (2)  
5 Switch off rear window defroster IMPORTANT Display: "OKAY", confirm by pressing volume knob (2)  
6 Select menu point "START-UP" with cursor key (1) and confirm by pressing volume knob (2) IMPORTANT In exceptional cases in which the vehicle is momentarily incapable of receiving signals from the GPS system, a position inquiry appears following the menu point "STARTUP".
This should be answered as follows:
  • ACT. LATITUDE =111.1
  • ACT. LATITUDE =111.1
  • NORTH LATITUDE/SOUTH LATITUDE
  • Select north latitude and confirm
  • WEST LONGITUDE/EAST LONGITUDE
  • Select east longitude and confirm.

IMPORTANT Select each digit with the appropriate cursor key (1) and confirm by momentarily  pressing the volume knob (2). The complete entry can be confirmed by pressing the volume knob (2) for a longer  period
 
7 Switch on rear window defroster IMPORTANT Display: "OKAY", confirm by pressing volume knob (2)  
8 Switch off rear window defroster IMPORTANT Display: "OKAY", confirm by pressing volume knob (2)  
9 Continue to follow instructions on display and confirm as required IMPORTANT The circle to be driven can also be < than 20 m and have an oval shape. It is only important that the starting point and end point are the same. Select "START" and confirm when the vehicle starts off. Select "STOP" and confirm at the end of the circular drive.  
10 After calibrating the compass remove the APS test CD and insert the map data CD NOTES Only lay CD cartridge (A) in place, it is pulled in automatically by the drive
IMPORTANT On new vehicles remove sticker from display
