Description & Operation

Power steering system is composed of power steering pump/reservoir, high pressure hoses and steering gear. All pumps are belt-driven, vane-type units with an internal control valve. Some systems have an automatic compensation for free play in steering gear.

Vehicles are equipped with 2 different types of pumps. Vehicles with automatic locking differential (ASD), Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) or level control will be equipped with a tandem pump assembly. All other vehicles will be equipped with a standard pump assembly.
