| 1 | Pull lever (1) on left below instrument panel to release engine hood | The pull handle (2) pops out of the radiator grille, lift the engine hood slightly, if required | |
| 2 | Pull handle (2) out of grille to stop and open engine hood | Do not lift with handle. Ensure that windshield washer arm is not folded toward front. |

| Moving to upright position | |||
| 3 | Pull locking lever (3) on left engine hood support in direction of arrow and push engine hood upward with slight force so that locking lever (3) does not reengage. Repeat procedure on right engine hood support and move engine hood to upright position | ||
| Closing | |||
| Engine hood can fall down | Accident hazard After releasing the locking lever (3) the counter-pressure of the gas-operated struts is effective on the engine hood only after it closes approximately 1/3 of the way. |

| 4 | Pull locking lever (3) on left engine hood support, hold engine hood and move downward until the counter-pressure of the gas-operated struts becomes effective and the locking lever engages. | ||
