Risk of explosion
caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns
caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury
caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries |
Fire, sparks, naked flames and smoking prohibited. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. |

Disconnect battery ground cable |
Installation:
Code radio, set clock, normalize power windows and, with stationary heater, set clock. |

Remove transfer case |

Unscrew bolts (9, 11) and remove exhaust bracket (10) |

Unlock securing pins (2), extract, and detach linkage rod (3) from transmission (1). |

Unlock securing pin (2) on shift linkage rod (4) and extract it, then detach shift linkage rod (4) at shift lever (5). |
Installation:
When attaching the shift rod (4) to the gearshift lever (5) ensure that the guide on the gearshift lever is located on the side of the reverse gear lock on the shift gate (arrow). |

Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. |

Remove retainer (7) from hydraulic line (6) and pull out hydraulic line |
Plug connections immediately.
Do not allow brake fluid reservoir to drain dry. |

Undo plug-in connection for backup light switch (8). |

Use jack to support transmission (1). |

Unscrew bolts (12) on crankcase and using lifting device take out transmission (1) downwards at an angle |

Check throwout bearing and guide bearing in flywheel |
Replace according to condition. |

Inspect transmission oil level |
Correct oil level = 10 mm below bottom edge of filler opening.
Carry out measurement e.g. with angled hexagon socket wrench. |
