	Remove/install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1	Disconnect ground cable from battery	Installation:  Code radio, set clock, normalize power windows and set timer in vehicles with stationary heater.	AR54.10-P-0003A
2	Remove engine support with engine mount (12)	Support transmission beforehand.
3	Remove exhaust bracket (13)	Installation:  Replace self-locking nuts (15).
4	Remove shield
5	Detach exhaust system from supports	Detach using V-belt.
6	Detach propeller shaft (17)	Detach propeller shaft complete and pull to the back.

		Installation:  Replace self-locking nuts.
7	Separate plug connection of reversing light switch (X49/1)
8	Detach ground line (20)
	Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes	Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid.	AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
9	Separate hydraulic line (11) for clutch operating system

10	Remove cap (21) from bracket (8)	Installation:  First insert upper guide of cap (21), then clip in at the bottom. The retaining lugs must be heard to engage.
11	Unhook selector cable (7) at the bracket (8), rotate nut (9) counterclockwise and remove selector cable (7)	Installation:  Lightly grease ball joint and ensure that the spacer ring (10) is correctly seated.	*BR00.45-Z-1001-06A
12	Tie selector cable (7) out of the way
13	Release locking pin (3) and pull out
14	Unhook shift rod (5) from transmission (1)	Installation:  Lightly grease ball joint.	*BR00.45-Z-1001-06A
15	Unscrew bolts (2) on crankcase and, using lifting device, remove transmission (1) downwards at an angle.	Installation:  Check seat of dowel pins and sleeves. In-line engine: Dowel pin on transmission (2 pieces) V- engine: Dowel pin on crankcase (2 pieces) Transmission platform, Refer to GOTIS http://gotis.aftersales.daimlerchrysler.com

16	Check thrust bearing and deep-groove ball bearing of crankshaft	Check for noise, rough running, leaks and wear and replace if necessary.
17	Install in the reverse order
18	Inspect transmission oil level	Correct oil level = 10 mm below bottom edge of filler opening. Carry out measurement e.g. with angled hexagon socket wrench.	*BF26.10-P-1001-01C
