Power Steering Pump Bleeding

CAUTION: During power steering pump bleeding, it extremely important that power steering pump not be allowed to ingest air. Pump damage may occur.
  1. Fill power steering fluid reservoir with proper fluid to 25/64" (10 mm) below top of reservoir. Start engine and run for one second. Fill power steering pump reservoir to between "MIN" and "MAX" level.
  2. Start engine and allow to idle. Turn steering full lock to left and right several times. Power steering pump will bleed air as steering wheel is being turned. Recheck power steering pump reservoir level. Fill as necessary. DO NOT overfill. Bleed hydraulic systems for automatic locking differential (ASD), Adaptive Damping Suspension (ADS) and level control separately. See appropriate REAR SUSPENSION article in the SUSPENSION section below.
