Removal, installation and adjustment of trunk lid lock and striker eye - ra88001400502x(0502)

REMOVAL OF TRUNK LID LOCK

Trunk lid open.
Panelling of rear center panel remove, install (68-485).
Screws (1-3) unscrew, WAF10. 10 Nm.
Trunk lid lock (14) remove from rear center panel.
Central locking system lead (4) on trunk lid lock (14) detach.
Electric cables at plug connectors (5 and 6) disconnect.
Closure housing (7) remove from lock cylinder housing (8) by disengaging lock (arrow) using a screwdriver.
REMOVAL OF STRIKER EYE

Screws (10) unscrew, WAF10. 10 Nm.
Striker eye (11) on trunk lid remove.
Tapped plate (12) remove from trunk lid.
INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENT OF TRUNK LID LOCK AND STRIKER EYE

Left and right-hand reflective strips as well as lock surround installed.
Trunk lid lock (14) insert in rear center panel and screw in screws (1-3), however do not  tighten.
Lock cylinder housing (8) align so that chrome cap is central in lock surround.
Screw (1) tighten securely, 10 Nm.
Upper closure housing (7) align flush to upper closing panel of rear center panel and tighten using screw (2 and 3).
Tapped plate (12) install in trunk lid.
Striker eye (11) or closing aid fasten on trunk lid with screws (10), only tighten screws (10) loosely so that striker eye can center in closure housing (7).
Note information on closing aid! 
Trunk lid close slowly, whilst carrying out visual inspection whether the striker eye is located centrally  in closure housing (7).
Striker eye adjust. This can be adjusted in the transverse and longitudinal direction.
Screws (10) in the striker eye (11) or closing aid  
  tighten, 10 Nm.
Trunk lid check for ease of closing and fit to the rear fenders, to correct only adjust screws (2 and 3) in closure housing (7). Only adjust closure housing for height. The closure housing (7) should not  be adjusted in the transverse direction. Malfunctions of the central locking system would result.
Continue to reinstall in opposite order.

IMPORTANT

Vehicles with closing aid 

Striker eye must be put in the retracted position. To do this, swivel the emergency operating device to the left, press in striker eye, then move the emergency operating device again into the vertical position.

Removal of trunk lid lock 

  1. Remove panelling of rear center panel (68-485).
  2. Unscrew screws (1 - 3).
  3. Remove trunk lid lock from rear center panel.

  4. Detach cable (4) from central locking element.
  5. Disconnect plug connector (5 and 6).

  6. Remove closure housing (7) from lock cylinder housing (8), by disengaging the lock (arrow) using screwdriver and remove closure housing.

Removal of striker eye 

  1. Unscrew screws (10) and remove striker eye (11) on trunk lid.
  2. Remove tapped plate from trunk lid.

Installation and adjustment of trunk lid lock and striker eye 

  1. The left- and right-hand luminous strips as well as lock surround are installed.
  2. Plug central locking system cable on element of trunk lid lock.
  3. Install trunk lid lock (14) in rear center panel.
  4. Connect plug connector (5 and 6) and insert in the plug-in clips.

  5. Screw in screw (1-3), however do not  tighten.

  6. Align lock cylinder housing (8) so that the chrome cap is central in the lock surround (arrows).

  7. Tighten screw (1) securely, 10 Nm.

  8. Align upper closure housing (7) flush with the upper closing panel of the rear center panel and tighten with screw (2 and 3).

  9. Insert tapped plate (12) in the trunk lid.
  10. Fasten striker eye or closing aid on trunk lid with screws (10).

    IMPORTANT

    Only tighten screws (10) loosely so that the striker eye can center in the closure housing (7).

    Note for vehicles with closing aid! 

  11. Close trunk lid slowly whilst carrying out a visual inspection whether the striker eye (11) is central in the closure housing (7).

  12. Adjust striker eye (11). It can be adjusted in the transverse and longitudinal direction.
  13. Tighten screws (10) Tightening torque: 10 Nm.

  14. Check trunk lid for ease of closing and fit to the rear fenders. To correct only slacken the screws (2 and 3) on the closure housing (7), only adjust housing for height. The closure housing (7) must not  be adjusted in the transverse direction. Malfunctions of the central locking system would result.
  15. Continue to reinstall in opposite order.
