Adjustment of trunk lid - ra88001400520x(0520)

A. Longitudinal adjustment, B. Height adjustment, C. Adjustment during rear end repair; Model 140 

Preliminary work:

Panelling on inner trunk lid removed (REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF THE PANELING ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRUNK LID )

Refer to GAPS ON THE HOOD, DOORS AND LID for joint dimensions

Should the adjustment work described in the following not be sufficient, an additional correction can be performed at the bracket of the hinge lever.

Using the eccentric bolt (3) the installed position of the trunk lid can also be adjusted for height and in the longitudinal direction.

1. Adjustment in longitudinal direction 
   1. Slacken bolts on left and right hinges.

   2. Slacken bolts (10) in the striker eye (11) of trunk lid.

   3. Screw in left and right-hand rubber buffer 1 1/2 turns.

   4. Adjust trunk lid so that the rear edge of the lid is flush with the rear fenders.

   5. Tighten bolts on the left and right hinges, 10 Nm.

   6. Adjust striker eye (11) so that the lock engages correctly.
   7. Tighten screws (10) on striker eye (11), 10 Nm.

2. Height adjustment 
   1. Remove panelling of rear center panel (68-485).
   2. Adjust front edge of trunk lid for height by aligning the hinge lever, so that the outer edge of the trunk lid is flush with the rear fenders.

   3. Slacken fastening screws (2 and 3) of closure housing (7).
      NOTE: Do not slacken screw (1) of lock cylinder housing (8).

   4. Close trunk lid and press down at rear until the upper edge of trunk lid is flush with the rear fenders.

   5. If the deviation of the upper edge of trunk lid to rear fender is minimal from left to right, this can be compensated by screwing the rubber buffer in or out slightly.

   6. Adjust trunk lid lock so that the trunk lid closes properly (88-502). Tighten screws in closure housing, 10 Nm.
3. Adjustment during repairs to the rear end 

   For repairs to the rear end, which require the removal of the parcel shelf (68-458) additional height and longitudinal adjustment is possible at the bracket of the hinge lever by means of the eccentric bolt (3).
