Checking, correcting fluid level in air conditioner/auto. climate control - wh8312pkw0000x(8312)

Checking and correction of the fluid level Model 107 from 8/85; 123; 124, 129, 140 up to 6/93; 126 from 9/85; 201 from 1/85

NOTE: A precise check of the quantity is not possible on the observation glass. At higher ambient temperatures (> 35°C) foam or a few bubbles can also be present even when charged with the correct quantity.

In the event of refrigerant loss or suspected leakage of the system the correct charge quantity can only be ensured by completely emptying (recycling) and recharging the system, before recharging check system for leakage. The correct charge can only be achieved by weighing the refrigerant or by using a charging cylinder or automatic air conditioner charging unit.


Please observe the newest information regarding the correct charge for each model in the Introduction into Service documents and Repair Instructions on microfiche.

A. Models 107, 123, 124, 129, 201

Observation glass (arrow) on fluid reservoir clean.
Electrical lead on pressure switch (7) disconnect.
Engine idling.
Air conditioner or automatic climate control switch on, function "Defrost".
Electrical lead on pressure switch (7) connect, while observing
Observation glass (arrow) on fluid reservoir The refrigerant level should increase shortly before the electromagnetic clutch switches on and then flow through without bubbles (i.e. refrigerant no longer visible).

B. Model 140

Observation glass (arrow) on fluid reservoir clean.
Connector on coolant temperature sensor (B10/8) disconnect, bridge.
Engine idling.
Automatic climate control switch on, function "Defrost".
Bridge on connector for B10/8 remove, while observing
Observation glass (arrow) on fluid reservoir The refrigerant level should increase shortly after the electromagnetic clutch switches on and then flow through without bubbles (i.e. refrigerant no longer visible).
Connector reconnect to B10/8.
