Function
In the manual mode
the defroster nozzle flap switchover valves in the valve block (Y11) are actuated by pressing the defroster button (
).
In this case the vacuum elements for the defroster nozzle flaps (37, 38) are released (vacuum not present, 100% open) (= stroke B).
Only the vacuum elements for defroster nozzle flaps (37, 38) are open without vacuum. This limp-home feature guarantees that the windows are kept free of fog even in the event of a defect in the vacuum system. In the automatic mode the vacuum elements for the defroster nozzle flaps (37, 38) can be actuated 80% (stroke A) or 100% (stroke B) depending on the temperature in the heater core.
