Model 140

In addition to the accident prevention regulations of the professional societies also observe the following items before and during body repair:

Protective clothing and equipment

In addition to personal work clothes, cap and safety shoes, also wear work gloves, protective goggles, ear protectors, face guard, dust protection mask, etc. during the work as required.

Battery

Before performing welding work or other types of work generating sparks in the area of the vehicle battery always remove battery and store in protected location.

Components

During repair work following accidents visually check/test electronic components, steering and seat belts. (00-0510).

Drilling, sawing

Before drilling or sawing remove electric cables and/or tubing located in hollow cavities as well as concealed containers (e.g. battery) and electronic components from danger area.

Vehicles

Shield and/or cover other vehicles located in the body repair area with portable dividing walls or fire resistant tarps respectively due to possible damage to the paint and glass as well as the fire hazard due to flying sparks.

Lifting platforms

It is possible for the vehicle to tip off of the lifting platform due to the change in the center of gravity when parts are removed (e.g. engine, axles etc.). Secure vehicle and/or place sand sacks in vehicle to compensate weight (00-9008).

Air conditioners

Do not weld or perform similar types of work to parts of the closed air conditioner or in their immediate vicinity (83-504).

Fuel tank and fuel lines

Before performing any type of grinding and/or welding work in the area of the fuel tank, drain tank and remove. Store fuel and fuel tank at safe location. Drain disconnected fuel lines, plug and shield against radiated heat.

Metal chips

During and following machining operations on the body remove resulting metal chips with a vacuum cleaner, do not blow off with compressed air.

Engine and auxiliary units

Before performing machining work on body (e.g with spherical cutter) cover engine and auxiliary units (e.g. alternator, solenoid clutches, etc.) to avoid subsequent damage due to metal chips.

Straightening work

During straightening work do not stand directly in front of the pulling chain when tension is applied to the frame or body.

Secure pulling chains with catch cables or chains to prevent them from flying away.

Welding and related procedures

Observe the accident prevention regulations (UVV) VBG 15 "Welding, cutting and related operations" during all welding work.

In addition observe safety measures for electronic control units before performing arc welding (60-200).

Moreover always remove easily combustible and/or inflammable substances and liquids from the hazard area.

Use shields to guard against flying sparks and radiated heat and protect electrical cables and tubing located in hollow cavities.

Welding fumes

Evacuate health hazardous welding fumes, gases, vapors and dust in the area generated.
