Repairing ASD ring cylinder - AR35.41-P-0545D: Notes

MODEL 124.008 /028 /029 /031 /032 /034 /036 /051 /052 /061 /066 /088 /091 /092, 129.058 up to 31.5.94, 129.061, 129.063, 140.028 /032 /033 up to 31.5.94, 140.1 with CODE (211) Rear axle with automatic locking differential (ASD) 

RA-center piece, 210 mm dia  .

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Raise vehicle with lifting platform    
2 Drain oil from rear axle center assembly (50)   AR35.31-P-0520-06A
    Cleaning spray, Loctite 7063 (150ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
    Sealant, Omnifit 100H (50 g) *BR00.45-Z-1061-01A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oil drain plug *BA35.31-P-1003-02A 
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Oil filler and drain screw on rear axle center assembly modified as of 19.01.04 BT35.31-P-0015-01A
3 Remove rear axle center assembly (50) Model 124 ra35001240520x
    Model 129 AR35.31-P-0520C
    Model 140 AR35.31-P-0520A 
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Threaded bore for rpm sensor routed at rear axle housing   BT35.31-P-0004-01A 
4 Detach end cover (54) IMPORTANTInstallation  : Clean installation and coat with sealing compound. *BR00.45-Z-1010-01A 
    IMPORTANT Replace collar bolts (56b).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar bolts (56b), bolts (56) *BA35.31-P-1001-02A 
5 Detach circlip (30)   AR35.31-P-0540-01A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Removal and installation tool Figure
    SPECIAL TOOLInstallation  : Replace circlip.  
6 Pull out connecting flange (33b) IMPORTANTInstallation  : Check contact surface for the radial sealing ring on the connecting flange, if there is severe galling: ↓ replace connecting flange  
    IMPORTANT For vehicles with ASD, an axial play adjustment is not necessary.

7 Detach grooved ball bearing (33c)   AR35.31-P-0540-04A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Puller Figure

DISASSEMBLINGASSEMBLING Disassemble/assemble     
8 Repairing ring cylinder IMPORTANT replace radial seal and smear sealing lip with universal hypoid gear oil: AR35.41-P-0545-04D 
  Universal hypoid gear oils (SAE 85 W-90)   BB00.40-P-0235-07A
    Replace O-rings and coat with hydraulic fluid  
  Hydraulic oils (Specification 343.0)   BB00.40-P-0343-00A

9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Pour oil into the rear axle center assembly (50) Model 129, 124 AR35.31-P-0520-03A

    Cleaning spray, Loctite 7063 (150ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oil filler screw for rear axle center assembly *BA35.31-P-1002-02A
