Pretension rear axle housing with spreader (brace) - AR35.31-P-0550-23A

TEST VALUES FOR REAR AXLE HOUSING EXPANSION

  1. Attach spreader (058) to rear axle housing; to do this, tighten collar bolts (arrows) to 50 Nm.

  2. Turn flat surface (arrow) on thrust piece to the bottom.
  3. Screw in the threaded spindle (058a) by hand until the thrust piece touches the tapered roller bearing outer race (11a).

  4. Position measuring yoke (059) for expansion dimension measurement on spreader (058) and press against the two bolts from below. Set dial gauge to "0" with 3 mm preload.

    IMPORTANT The rabbet bolt (arrow) of the measuring yoke (059) must abut the contact surface of the rear axle housing.

  5. Screw in the threaded spindle (058a) of the spreader until (058) the rear axle housing has reached the specified expanded dimension.

    NOTES When spreading, do not exceed the specified spread dimension in order to avoid damage to the rear axle center assembly.

  6. Remove contact arm (059).
