C. Determining fused components with increased quiescent current consumption
Preliminary work:
Total quiescent current consumption tested (A).
Circuit with increased quiescent current consumption determined (B).
| Test cable (6) and test adapter | connect to second multimeter. |
| Multimeter | switch on (Mode: Amps). |
| Possible quiescent current consumers connected to fuse in question | determine according to chart in fuse box or wiring diagram file "Electric wiring diagrams, passenger cars" and disconnect connector. |
| Quiescent current | read off on second multimeter. |
Quiescent current >0.02 A (20 mA):
NOTE:
When measuring at the fuse carrier for the radio or when the connector for the radio is disconnected, the quiescent current consumption can increase by approx. 0.240 A (240 mA).
|
|
| This high quiescent current consumption can be eliminated by switching the radio on and off again. | |
Quiescent current ≤ 0.02 A (20 mA):
|
| Total quiescent current on multimeter (2) connected to battery | check again. |
Readout ≤ 0.05 A (50 mA ) or ≤ 0.085 A (85 mA) on vehicles with immobilizer
|
|
Readout >0.05 A (50 mA) or >0.085 A (85 mA) on vehicles with immobilizer
