Removal and installation of piston LB3 - AR27.30-P-0660-01A

Removal 

  1. Remove Teflon rings (9) from annular grooves in front cover.

  2. Place assembly device (020) on the spring plate (13) and clamp until the snap ring (15) is released.
  3. Remove snap ring (15).
  4. Release and remove assembly device (020).

  5. Remove spring plate (13) and backpressure springs (14) for piston LB3 (12).
  6. Withdraw piston.

    Installation 

  7. Check radial lip-type sealing rings (16, 17) and replace, if necessary.
  8. Install radial lip-type sealing rings (16, 17).

    IMPORTANT

    Install radial lip-type sealing rings so that the sealing lip points downwards (in direction of arrow).

  9. Place sleeve (024) on front cover (10).
  10. Lubricate sliding surfaces for the radial lip-type sealing rings.
  11. Insert piston LB3 (12).

    IMPORTANT

    The journal (on the piston) and the bore (in the front cover) must align. Carefully press down piston without tilting it over, it may be necessary to push on the outer radial lip-type sealing ring (arrow) with a pin.

  12. Remove sleeve (024).

  13. Mount backpressure springs (14) and spring plate (13) for the piston LB3 (12).

    IMPORTANT

    Number of backpressure springs: 20 pieces

  14. Place and clamp assembly device (020) on the spring plate
  15. Insert snap ring (15).
  16. Release and remove assembly device.

  17. Insert Teflon rings (9) in annular grooves in front cover.

    IMPORTANT Ensure that the splits in the Teflon rings (9) are in alignment. If necessary remove the rings and shape to a smaller diameter.
