Removing, installing, dismantling and assembling floor shift - RA2703722C745X(27-745)

C. Model 140 

1. Remove retaining clip (49) and disconnect shift rod (10).
2. Remove, install entire center console assembly (68-200).

3. Remove protective cap (61).

4. Unscrew hexagon bolts on both pipe clamps (41) and unclip cables (40L and 40B).
5. Disconnect plug from switch for "S" and "E" programs.
6. Disconnect plug from 1st gear switch (black 68) in vehicles with 4-speed transmission.
7. Disconnect plug from D-contact switch (white 68) in vehicles with 5-speed transmission.

   Unscrew hexagon bolts (6, 6a) and remove floor shift.

   Installation note 

   When installing, place gasket on floor shift and push in hexagon bolts.

8. Install in the reverse sequence.
9. Adjust shift lock cables.

   Dismantling and assembling

   Selector lever

   Remove and install by moving lever to position "D". Tap selector lever with the palm of the hand whilst turning it clockwise through 90° and then pull up.

   Install	Press selector lever into forkhead of floor selector with locking pin at right angles to direction of travel and rotate clockwise through 90° until it engages.
   Cover (3)	Unclip, clip in.
   Sliding gate guard (67)	Remove, install.
   Gear indicator (7)	Lift off, insert.
   Switch "S" and "E" programs (70)	Pull out, insert.
   "B" switch (black 68) or "D" switch (white 68)	Remove, install.
   Shift segment (69)	Pull out and push in position "B".
   Sliding gate guard guides (65, 66)	Pull out, insert
   Fiber-optics (30a)	Unclip from holder and housing and pull out from under shift shaft; install in reverse order.
   Fork head (13)	Remove, install by unhooking spring (14), remove locking device (16). Pull out pin (17) with sleeves (15); install in reverse order.
   Holder (64)	Remove, install by removing locking device (53) and unscrewing nut (57). Remove cam (48).
   Holder (55) for fiber-optics	Remove, install by removing locking device (16); remove/install pin (72).
   Shift shaft (18)	Pull outwards; remove shims and take off holder for fiber-optics (71) at same time; install in reverse order.
   Entire mechanical system of shift lock	Dismantle, assemble by removing locking devices (58), pulling off locking lever (44B and 44L) and removing spacer washer (62); assemble in reverse order.

Basic setting for shift lock with floor shift removed 

1. Slacken bolt (56) and nut (57).
2. Move selector lever to position "P" and locate using a plastic wedge.
3. Push a feeler gauge (thickness 0.2 mm) between locking lever and cam (arrow).
4. Tighten bolt (56) and nut (57) to 5 Nm and then remove feeler gauge and plastic wedge.
