Installation of replacement steering wheel - AR46.10-P-0100-01A

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 42 other vehicles, including the 1999 Mercedes-Benz S600, 1999 Mercedes-Benz S500, 1999 Mercedes-Benz S420, 1999 Mercedes-Benz S320, and 1999 Mercedes-Benz CL600. Steering wheels with contact spiral are supplied as a spare part ready-to-install. A cable (38d) is also mounted on a flat-pin connector (38e).

Assemble slip ring

Push electrical cables for airbag squib (38a) and horn (32k) through the recesses in the steering wheel (see arrows) and the grommet in the impact absorber.
Insert slip ring and assemble with new screws (32j).

Connect cable which has been pushed in for the horn (32k) in the top right contact plate (arrow).
Disconnect cable (38d) from the flat-pin connector (38e) and connect to the flat-pin connector of the slip ring.

Pay attention to what special equipment is installed when replacing the steering wheel:

Brass contact rings = standard (horn rings)
Brass contact rings = airbag
Brass contact rings + 1 Steering angle magnetic ring (arrow) = ADS
Brass contact rings + 1 Steering angle magnetic ring (arrow) = Airbag, ADS
