Function
The adjusting lever (7) for releasing and securing the steering column is locked or released again by pressing downwards.

When the adjusting switch is operated, the lever of the hydraulic cylinder (locking cylinder) is pulled from A to B by a wire actuating cable. This opens a non-return valve in the inside of the cylinder which locks/positions the jacket tube when closed. The hydraulic cylinder is attached on the right of the jacket tube.
At the same time the play compensators (92a, 92b) are rotated via additional actuating cables and thrust pieces are lifted via a trapezoidal thread. The steering column connected to the piston rod of the hydraulic cylinder can now be brought into the desired position easily and in a controlled fashion.
The valve in the hydraulic cylinder is closed again by pressing the adjusting lever (7) downwards again. Via the wire actuating cables, which are withdrawn by two springs, the thrust pieces in the play compensators (92a, 92b) abut again and eliminate the play between the steering column and the guide tube.
