Remove, install washer (5b) and rubber bushing (5c) (Position 2).
When installing, torque the lower hexagon nut (5a) to 25 Nm, then lock with upper hexagon nut (5a), 25 Nm. Ensure that the rubber bushing (5c) seats properly.Rear wheel remove, install. Torque lug bolts to 110 Nm. Roll-over bar switch (S83/2, S83/3) remove, install (Position 4). High-pressure line (P4) detach, reconnect. Tightening torque for banjo bolt (5v): 25 Nm. Hexagon bolts (72d) remove, install, remove spring link cover (72c), install (Position 7). Self-locking hexagon nut with washer (5n) remove, replace, install, 55 Nm.
Remove, install hexagon bolt with washer (5r) (Position 7).Strut (5) extract, insert. Pull off, push on lower rubber bushing (5d) and plate (5e). Assemble with parts in correct positions (Position 8). Roll-over bar system Check to ensure correct operation. Special tool
NOTE: The spring struts also act as the rebound stop for the rear wheels. Therefore only detach the spring strut mounting when the vehicle is on its wheels or the spring link is supported. If the spring strut tube also turns when unscrewing the nuts, this can be held by hand in the wheel house.Removal, installation
- Slacken rear wheel.
Installation note
Tighten wheel bolts, 110 Nm.
Check function of roll-over bar system
The spring link must be supported if the vehicle is not resting on its road wheels.
- Unscrew the hexagon nuts (5a), remove the washer (5b) and the upper rubber bushing (5c).
Installation note
Torque the lower hexagon nut to 25 Nm, then lock it with the upper hexagon nut, 25 Nm. Ensure that the rubber bushing (5c) seats properly.
- Remove the rear wheel.
- Remove the roll-over bar switch (S83/2, S83/3).
- Disconnect the high-pressure line (P4) from the strut.
Installation note
Torque banjo bolt to 25 Nm.
- Unscrew the two hexagon bolts (72d) (arrows), then remove the spring link cover (72c).
- Unscrew the self-locking hexagon nut (arrow), then remove the hexagon bolt together with its washer.
Installation note
Replace self-locking hexagon nut, 55 Nm.
- Press the strut (5) downward and out of the support socket in the strut tower. Pull the strut from the spring link and then extract it to the rear.
