Detach/attach timing case cover - AR01.40-P-8000-03AO

Unscrew belt pulley (10) of power steering pump, remove.
For this step place poly-V-belt (21) above the belt pulley (10) of the power steering pump (12), fit on bracket (14) 603 589 00 40 00 and slacken bolts (arrows)

Unscrew bolts (arrow) of power steering pump and press power steering pump (12) with connected oil lines to the side.
On engines with TDC sensor: Unscrew (L1/1) and (L1/2) at timing case cover (7).

Unscrew air cleaner (4) of air pump, remove.
Unscrew bolts (15, 16) and remove bracket (3) of air pump/generator.
Installation : Observe fitted sleeves at the lower bolts (15, 16).

Model 129: Screw together bracket of generator wiring harness to lower bolt (16).

Clip vacuum line of aspirator shutoff valve into bracket (3) (arrow).
Model 129: Remove air injection line.

Remove chain tensioner
Unscrew bolts (17, 18, 19) and remove timing case cover (7).
Do not damage oil pan gasket (arrows) .
Clean sealing surfaces at timing case cover (7) and crankcase.
Model 129: Remove bolts (arrows) if lower oil pan is removed.

Coat sealing surface (arrow) of oil duct at timing case cover (7) with sealing compound.
Make sure that no sealing compound enters the oil duct (arrow) .

Coat sealing surfaces at timing case cover with sealing compound Loctite 5970
Ensure that no sealing compound enters the oil separator (arrow) of the crankcase ventilation, otherwise the function of the crankcase ventilation is no longer assured.
Replace O-rings (8) in order to seal the coolant ducts.

Mount timing case cover (7).
Do not damage oil pan gasket (arrows), observe fitted sleeves.
First of all tighten front bolts (17, 18).
If the timing case cover is replaced, the TDC sensors (L1/1) and (L1/2) must be set (up to 12/93).

Inspect color identification (arrows) of the camshaft sprockets with the timing chain.
Install chain tensioner
Install in the reverse order, starting at the digit 6.
Run engine, check for leaktightness.
