Engines 601, 602 (except 602.98), 603
Preceding work:
Cylinder head removed.
Camshaft removed.
Valves removed.
Valve shaft seals removed.
Cooling water return fitting removed.
Operation no. of the operation texts and work units or standard texts and flat rates
| Cylinder head (1) | clean. |
| Pressure plate (2) | screw onto cylinder head with rubber sealing plate 601 589 00 25 00, screw off. |
| Connection for cooling water return fitting and heater feed line | on cylinder head, plug tightly. |
| Compressed air | connect to fitting (3) on pressure plate and allow compressed air to flow into cylinder head at pressure of 2 bars. |
| Cylinder head (1) with pressure plate (2) | fasten to suspension device 115 589 34 63 00 and immerse in water preheated to approx. 80°C. |
| Cylinder head (1) | check for air bubbles exiting.
NOTE:
Air bubbles indicate a leaky point, locate exit point for air bubbles more precisely if applicable.
