Risk of accident as a result of vehicle starting off when engine running. Risk of injury as a result of bruises and burns if you insert your hands into engine when it is being started or when it is running .
Secure vehicle to prevent it starting off. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes .
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts .

- Remove driven plates together with ring gear.
- Clean rear of engine.
- Spray dried surrounding area with Mercedes-Benz white contrast spray.
- Install driven plate.
- Check oil level in engine.
- Bolt starter (17) to crankcase with M10x8 0 hexagon bolts (18).
- Support engine in installation position at rear.
- Transmission 722.3: bridge contacts (arrows) at starter lockout switch (S16/3).
- Run engine and inspect for leaks.
- Read fault memory and erase.
Stored faults which can result from cables being disconnected or from simulation during test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.
