Removal & Installation

- Raise and support vehicle. Remove tie rod-to-wheel carrier bolt and nut. Using a puller, remove tie rod from wheel carrier. Mark position of tie rod eccentric bolt to axle carrier. Remove tie rod-to-axle carrier eccentric bolt, nut and eccentric washer. Remove tie rod. See Figure. Inspect tie rod. See TIE ROD under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Using a jack, lift wheel carrier until rear axle shaft is horizontal. Axle shaft must be horizontal before tightening tie rod nuts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.
