	Remove/install
	Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. 1	Turn key in electronic ignition lock EIS into position "0".	Key cannot be withdrawn.
		Vehicles with Keyless-Go code 889: Remove Keyless-Go cards from the vehicle and store outside of the transmitter range.
2	Remove ground line(s) at battery(ies)	Do not connect a quiescent current retention device. Risk of short-circuit!

3	Remove engine compartment paneling	Model 211	AR61.20-P-1105T

4	Unscrew bolts (1) at bracket of hydraulic line
5	Press off clamp (2) in direction of arrow
6.1	Remove right engine mount	Model 211.076 / 276	AR22.10-P-1100PV
		Remove the bolts on the engine mount, lift the engine slightly and place the engine mount aside. Engine mount cannot be removed completely, otherwise the exhaust system must also be removed.
7	Unscrew nuts (3).	Remove electrical line tml. 50 (4) and electrical line tml. 30 (5).

8	Remove bolts (6)		*BA15.30-P-1003-01A
9	Take starter (M1) down and out
10.1	Check ring gear at flywheel for wear and damage	When replacing the starter on vehicles fitted with manual transmission
		Rotate engine at the crankshaft in direction of rotation.
10.2	Check ring gear on the drive plate for wear and damage	When replacing the starter on vehicles fitted with automatic transmission
		Rotate engine at the crankshaft in direction of rotation.
11	Install in the reverse order
12	Perform function check
13	Render electrical system operational	See ↓ Carry out basic programming:
