Function Test

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 1996 Mercedes-Benz C36, 1996 Mercedes-Benz C280, 1996 Mercedes-Benz C220, 1995 Mercedes-Benz C36, and 1995 Mercedes-Benz C280. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: To avoid damaging control modules all electrical testing should be done with a DVOM. DO NOT use an analog meter or test light to check control module circuits.

Use function test to determine which system test to perform. See Fig 1. If problem is identified, perform appropriate test step under ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), ACCELERATION SLIP REGULATION (ASR), ELECTRONIC TRACTION SYSTEM (ETS) & SPEED SENSITIVE POWER STEERING (SPS) ELECTRICAL TESTS PROGRAM (SECTION 23) . If problem is not identified, continue diagnosis. See SYMPTOM INDEX .
