SRS Tester Preparation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL and 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
When using SRS tester for external voltage and resistance measurements, DO NOT
connect SRS tester to SRS Red 10-pin connector. System damage will result.
NOTE:
In performing SRS component tests when air bag system is disabled, manufacturer recommends using SRS Tester (126-589-10-21-00). A high impedance DVOM may be used in place of SRS tester for external voltage and resistance measurements.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Connect SRS Tester (126-589-10-21-00) cable connector to SRS Red 10-pin connector. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Connect battery voltage supply cables to SRS tester external voltage supply terminals. See Fig 1 . Reconnect negative battery terminal.
- For external voltage and resistance measurements, plug SRS tester lead ends into appropriate SRS tester sockets. See Fig 1 . When measuring voltage, turn test selector switch to position No. 8. Meter will indicate volts. When measuring resistance, turn test selector switch to position No. 9. Meter will indicate ohms.
