Retrieving Fault Codes: SRS Warning Light

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL and 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Locate diagnostic connector. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR LOCATION  table. See Figure -4. Turn ignition switch to ON position.
  2. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 6 of on-board diagnostic connector for exactly 3 seconds, and remove jumper wire. If these 2 terminals are connected for 6 seconds or longer, fault code to be displayed will be erased.
  3. Jumping these 2 terminals will start SRS control unit self-diagnostics. SRS warning light will flash only SRS fault codes stored in memory. Observe and record all code numbers until first code number repeats. See appropriate SRS FAULT CODES  table.
