WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SEL and 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- After all repairs have been made, each fault code readout must be erased individually. Fault Code No. 10 can ONLY be erased by replacing SRS control unit. Locate diagnostic connector. See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR LOCATION table. See Figure -4.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 and 6 of on-board diagnostic connector for exactly 3 seconds and remove jumper wire. This will start SRS control unit self-diagnostics. Wait 3 seconds, connect these 2 terminals again for 6-8 seconds and remove jumper wire. Fault code will be erased.
- Continue step 2) sequence until all fault codes are erased. Perform RETRIEVING FAULT CODES sequence again to ensure all fault codes are erased. SRS warning light will flash only once when there are no more fault codes in system memory.
